The family business was established in 1848 by Roderich's grandfather, Johann Carl Paesold, who produced strings and traded in musical instruments. It became a flourishing export company at the turn of the century under the trade name “Flügelnell”. Today the company continues to produce a comprehensive range of violins, violas, cellos, double basses and bows, all handmade in the workshops now located at Hangenau, Bavaria, Germany. Paesold instruments are world renowned for their quality, durability and sound; they are used by discerning students and professionals worldwide.
