The Principle of FiberreedDuring a gig with his band, and in the midst of several years of research and development to find a synthetic material comparable to natural cane (Arundo Donax), Harry Hartmann came up with an idea:
In order to reproduce as closely as possible the sound of natural cane, all of the positive qualities of the cane should be kept, while the negative ones should be excluded.
In the course of further investigation it was discovered that the sound qualities of Arundo Donax originate from two characteristics: longitudinal feeding channels and the cellular structure that surrounds them. This is how nature’s perfection became the principle of Fiberreed.

Carbon Fiberreed
Our bestseller is the Carbon Fiberreed, the black and white coated reed. The white plies are the trademark of the synthetic hollow fibers that have been used to make Fiberreed from the very beginning. They give the reed a beautiful, reed-like buzz. On the carbon model, the white hollow fibers are coated with carbon fibers, which give the sound a distinct, bright edge. The lows are rich, the highs powerful. At the same time, it has a convincing presence.
RPL Fiberreed
The RPL model is the first reed in our Fiberreed Artist series and was developed in collaboration with Portuguese music professor Rodrigo Pires de Lima with classical music in mind. But it is also a real treat for all jazz musicians. A highly developed heart gives this reed good resistance, a pure tone and precise response. As Rodrigo likes to say, the RPL was made with a lot of "love and care"!
G-SAX Fiberreed
The Carbon G-Sax Fiberreed was developed in collaboration with the Swiss saxophonist Roland Graf, aka G-Sax, and is oriented towards jazz and pop styles. The reed is made of our popular carbon material with alternating layers of carbon fibres and hollow fibres with a strongly curved core. The solid heart provides a juicy tone, while the lightweight reed tip offers easy response and blowability.
